Secret Search

Secret Search support

How the game works, what its settings do, and how to reach Nooikko when something is wrong.

Playing

How do I play?

Each puzzle starts blind: you see the subject and how many words are hiding, not the words themselves. Drag across letters in a straight line, in any of eight directions, to select a word. Found words appear in the list below the board.

What is the daily search?

One puzzle that everyone gets on the same day: six words on one subject, with a new search at midnight in your local time. The daily has to be downloaded once, and it stays available afterwards. An open daily is never replaced at midnight.

What do the difficulties change?

Normal is an 8 × 8 grid with six words. Hard is 10 × 10 with eight. Extra Hard is 12 × 12 with ten. Every free-play board has a subject.

How do hints work?

Watch an ad and one unfound word reveals its first letter on the board. Each completed ad gives one hint. If no ad is available, nothing blocks you: keep searching, or come back later.

Can I play offline?

Free play works without a connection. The daily search needs to be downloaded once, then it is playable offline for that day.

Where did my unfinished puzzle go?

Open Free Play. When a free-play board is unfinished, Select Difficulty shows a Continue button that resumes it.

Can I see the walkthrough again?

Yes. Settings has an option to replay the first-launch walkthrough.

Words and reports

A word does not fit the subject, or is too obscure. What can I do?

Tap the found word and choose one of the reasons offered: it does not fit the category, it is unfamiliar or too obscure, or the spelling or word form is wrong. The report is sent to Nooikko when the app next has a connection. There is no free-text field, so the report contains only the word, its puzzle and the reason.

Settings

What is in Settings?

Haptics, appearance (system, light or dark), the Automatic diagnostics switch, a link to this site, and Ad privacy choices when your region requires them.

What does Automatic diagnostics send?

Puzzle context, ad and hint outcomes, event identifiers, and fixed error codes, together with the platform and app version. Diagnostics are on by default. Turning them off stops new automatic events and clears any waiting to be sent. Google’s advertising data collection is separate and is not controlled by this switch. The app privacy policy describes both.

How do I change my ad choices?

Where required, Ad privacy choices in the app lets you revisit Google’s consent form. On iOS, you can also change tracking permission in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking; tracking permission alone does not override your consent choices. On Android, device settings let you reset or delete your advertising ID. Declining personalization never stops you from playing, and non-personalized ads may still process data.

How do I delete my information?

There is no player account to delete. Your email address does not identify your diagnostic events or word reports, so emailing us cannot locate everything your copy of the app has sent. Those records follow the retention arrangements in the app privacy policy. We can locate support emails you sent from that address. Removing the app normally removes its local game database; device backups, iOS secure storage and records already received by Nooikko or Google are separate.
